Write an effective argument for our chosen political party.

WALT: Write an effective argument for our chosen political party.

Have you voted yet? National party is an obvious pick its very business oriented. I really do believe that New Zealand is going fine having National so my opinion is to keep National in govern. For example, I know that there are to many workplace injuries and deaths. I am aware that they are going to fund private and public tertiary educations on an equal basis. Another great policy, People have firearms in their cars and houses that they are not allowed to. As you know what party I like lets go over the first policy for National and this is a very good reason to vote for National.

National has created a policy to implement new measures to reduce workplace death and injury
National believes that people should be safe from injury and death at work.  They want to put in new ideas so that people don't hurt them self they want to reduce death and injury by ¼ by 2020. I believe this is a good policy because it means that…

Koru Games Reflection

In the Koru Games the sport I competed in was vollyball

Our team won 6 games and lost 3 but we worked really well as a team and kept the motivation going throughout the whole three days overall we go 6th out of 24 teams.

I found the experience to be very fun and enjoyable because we made a lot of good memories and had some good banter with some of the other schools

In terms of working with Individuals and Groups; my solo level is relational because I respond positively to the needs of others

For Teamwork; my solo level is relational because participate and take responsibility in a team and explain my choices in terms of team outcomes.

formal letter

In Writing we have been learning to: Write a formal letter.

We have followed the writing process and have planned and drafted a formal letter.

Here is a link to our online Modelling book. This shows the process that we have followed.

Here is the letter that I have written Here is my reflection on the letter writing that we have done.

One thing that I found challenging about writing formal letters was figuring out where to start and trying to keep the letter going so that its as long as its meant to be.

My next step is: look for more opportunities to put my letter writing knowledge into practice in the future.

Today we started as per usual with ka waiata we did sing as well as we normally do I think we could do better though well at least I hope so after that we sang some more  songs. Then we sung aotearoa without seeing the lyrics. After that we went over the lyrics to the song we learnt last week then we started learning the actions but it was very hard because we have to lean over to the side but people were leaning over to far and falling over then the boys have a part in the song but they sing it really quiet so matua got the girls to sing it and we sang it really well  but it is a boys part so they had to sing it .

I showed the community by going to kapa haka on time.
I showed leadership by being resilient to the kids that took ages to learn the actions.

Operations using fractions, percentages, decimals and integers.

Image
In Maths we have been learning to: Understand operations using fractions, percentages, decimals and integers.

Here is some evidence of my learning.

Extended Abstract assessment task - links to the answer sheet and the activity sheet.

Something that challenged me during this unit of learning was the lazier blazer task because you had to make fractions out of graphs.
My next step is to continue to apply these strategies to real life/ problem solving situations.

Reading - Text Composition

In reading we have been learning to….
recognise the way words, sentences and paragraphs are put together (eg sentences that express cause and effect) and use this knowledge to understand complicated texts.

Here is a link to our online modelling book

These documents show evidence of my learning during this unit:

Defining parts of speech
Types of sentences
Analyzing paragraph construction
Explain the relationship between components of texts.
Complex text analysis

My Next Step: Is to continue to apply this new knowledge of parts of texts, to help me make sense of increasingly complicated text types.

Current Events Term 2, 2017

WALT: I can successfully research a current event.
Here is a link to our online modelling book for this unit of learning.

The National Standard that I have been aiming for during this unit of learning is:

Year 9/10: I can read in different ways to find and/or understand information that that is not immediately easy to access or is not organised in familiar ways.

Each week we have read a short text about a current event/ topic. We then formed questions based on what we had read.  After this we researched the answers to our questions and finally we gave our opinions on what we had found out.

Here is some evidence of my learning.

Careers Education C.V. Writing

In CAREERS EDUCATION we have been learning to write a skills based Curriculum Vitae.
A skills based C.V. focuses more on the skills that we have,  rather than our work history.
Here is a link to our online Modelling Book that shows the process we have followed.
Three things that I have learned about writing a Curriculum Vitae are:
That you don't have to do it about your work experience
It has to be quite long
That you can to add skills that might not have to do with the job
Here is a link to my Skills based Curriculum Vitae.

kapa haka #2 excellence 2017

Today was kapa Haka. We firstly went and took our shoes off (as normal) and went to sit down on the hall floor ready to listen and learn new actions and songs! we found out that we are going to do a performance for our open afternoon we are going to open it we get to spend 15 mins doing it and we are going to do five songs. We then practiced more new words for a song there is a part that the boys were meant to sing and matua was going though it with them and none of them were singing it so he told us(the girls) to try and we did it really well so then he told them to try it again they sang it but just not as good as us . We then practiced Ka waiata because we all love and all sing in our classes.

home learning challenge #2 2017 exellence

For this home learning challenge I went to three high school open nights I went to riccarton,  hillmorton and lincoln. they were all options at the start but when I went to them I didn't think lincoln suited me so I won't be going there but I don't know what to do with riccarton and hillmorton I really like them both so if I don't get into riccarton it will make my decision way easier because then I wont have to decide the hillmorton one was at the night time the lincoln one was before the riccarton one in the afternoon and the riccarton one was at night time but for the riccarton one we had to book in to get a tou where as the others you didn't have to.
I showed leadership by knowing what my future will be.
I showed respect by not saying that lincoln high wasn't as good as the hillmorton to everyone else there its a good school but just doesn't suit me.

For this home learning challenge I did the 40 hour famine for this I did no internet it was quite hard because I am usually on my devise for the past time and to keep me  from being bored. I also use it for my blog posts and to catch up on any work I am running late on. I raised 20 dollars and I got that from my mum, dad and my brother.
I showed leadership by role modeling to others to help people in need.
I showed respect by respecting the people that don't have what we have and that are not very lucky.

kapa haka excellence #1 2017

On Friday we had kapa Haka and we meet as a group every Friday in the hall to practice our performances and songs and actions. We started of by taking off our shoes and putting them in the hall and then going and sitting down in our performance lines in the hall quietly but some of the younger kids were quite loud. after that we  started singing our main song which is called Ka Waiata and that sounded really great! Next we practiced new  actions to a new song and focused on learning the actions and doing them without Matuas help it was quite hard as I keep getting muddled up but I persevered. I showed  respect by persevering and trying to do the actions . I showed leadership by being quiet and role modeling it to others.

Today all the leaders had a meeting with Mr Ladbrook because some of the leaders (me and some others)  still haven't got our merit badges and Mr ladbrook was just reminding us what we needed to do for our blog posts and home learning challenges and stuff like that. We also talked about how the house captains are sometimes forgetting to put out the flags and then bring them back inside after school and also forgetting to but out the bins out in the morning and bringing them back in, so we made a solution some of the house captain said that we weren't doing enough so  I said tat I would try to be more. I showed excellence by agreeing to do more and trying to be fair and I showed leadership by turning up to the meeting and trying my best to be a good leader for the whole school.
