kapa haka excellence #9 2017

Today at kapa haka we started off by singing aotearoa after that we sang tai tapu, I think we sang this quite well but we could have sang it better. After that we sang ka waiata we sang this really well. After that we sang hallelujah we sing this song very well and I like this song a lot. Then we sang the song that we learnt a few weeks ago and we also practised the actions, I think we are doing really well at this song and I like it a lot.  I showed leadership by singing with pride. I showed respect by listening to what the teachers have to say.

home learning challenge #5

For this home learning challenge I had to research an important person in new zealand history And I chose kate sheppard here is a google slide on her.

key leadership excellence #4

This week I was putting the flags away and me and natasha were saying that it would be helpful if the people that did the flags in the morning made sure that they were all done because then there isn't enough for everyone to put away and its not helpful that one of them is away getting fixed. I showed respect by doing the flags every day. I showed leadership by leaving some flags for others to do.

kapa haka #8 excellence 2017

Today we started as per usual with ka waiata we did sing as well as we normally do I think we could do better though well at least I hope so after that we sang some more  songs. Then we sung aotearoa without seeing the lyrics. After that we went over the lyrics to the song we learnt last week then we started learning the actions but it was very hard because we have to lean over to the side but people were leaning over to far and falling over then the boys have a part in the song but they sing it really quiet so matua got the girls to sing it and we sang it really well  but it is a boys part so they had to sing it . I showed the community by going to kapa haka on time. I showed leadership by being resilient to the kids that took ages to learn the actions.

home learning challenge #4 excellence

This is one of my home learning challenges for this I researched  on how social media affects us it was quite challenging for me as I had to look at a lot of sites to make sure the information was true.

Operations using fractions, percentages, decimals and integers.

Image
In Maths we have been learning to: Understand operations using fractions, percentages, decimals and integers. Here is some evidence of my learning. Extended Abstract assessment task - links to the answer sheet and the activity sheet. Something that challenged me during this unit of learning was the lazier blazer task because you had to make fractions out of graphs. My next step is to continue to apply these strategies to real life/ problem solving situations.

Reading - Text Composition

In reading we have been learning to…. recognise the way words, sentences and paragraphs are put together (eg sentences that express cause and effect) and use this knowledge to understand complicated texts. Here is a link to our online modelling book These documents show evidence of my learning during this unit: Defining parts of speech Types of sentences Analyzing paragraph construction Explain the relationship between components of texts. Complex text analysis My Next Step: Is to continue to apply this new knowledge of parts of texts, to help me make sense of increasingly complicated text types.

Then we sung aotearoa without seeing the lyrics. After that we went over the lyrics to the song we learnt last week. I showed the value of community by going to kapa haka on time. I showed leadership by listening to the lyrics and following them carefully.

kapahaka #5 excellence

Today was kapa Haka and we started off by singing our main waiata which is Ka waiata. We sing this song with pride because its one of our main songs and we all like it and it is kind of like our school song because all our school knows it and sings it lots of the time. We then sang a new song that the teachers learnt when they went to the marae on the teacher only day. We then practiced out actions to haerie mai and then we finished. I showed respect by singing all the songs with pride. I showed leadership by helping the younger kids remember the actions.

kapahaka #4 excellence cando

Today we did a performance in the assembly. I was quite nervous as I do not like performing in front of people let alone performing and being in the front row! it was very uncomfortable as I get muddled up when I do the actions the songs we did were ka waiata and hairemai after that we got asked if we would stay up the front and do tai tapu as I know the actions very well I did this no problem. I showed excellence by going outside of my comfort zone. I showed leadership by getting involved.

kapa haka #3 excellence 2017

Today I met with the kapa haka after morning tea and we got told that we were doing a performance that day but we were only doing two songs and they were Tai tapu and haerie mai in I was quite scared because i'm in the front row and i'm not very confident with the actions. We went over and over the actions until everyone knew them after that I thought that I knew them well. I showed  respect by working on the actions. I showed leadership by being quiet and role modeling to others.
